イギリスのブライトンにある大学を卒業後、香港で8年働いて過ごした私は、心身ともに疲れ果ていた。身近にあるものの美しさに気づける感性を取り戻したいと思い、忙しない故郷での暮らしから離れ、もう一度、一年間海辺に住むことを決めた。
《Working Holiday》は、日本の江ノ島でワーキングホリデーをしていた期間に撮影された写真の展示である。
After spending eight years in Hong Kong working after graduation from Brighton U.K., both my body and spirit were exhausted. I decided to spend a year living by the sea again, hoping to recharge myself from my restless hometown and regain the ability to appreciate the beauty around me.
《Working Holiday》 features a collection of photographs taken during my working holiday period living in Enoshima, Japan.
シャーウィン・ウォン/ Sherwin Wong
シャーウィンは香港で生まれ、イギリスのサセックス大学にてメディアプラクティスの学士号を取得した。彼は写真とインスタレーションを主な表現方法とし、日々の生活をカメラで記録している。2021年には自身初となる個展｢Redscale」を香港にて開催した。また国内外さまざまなグループ展への参加経験もあり、これまで香港、日本、イギリス、中国の平遥などで作品を展示してきた。単調な生活や型にはまった生き方への恐怖から、コンサート写真の撮影やアートディレクションなど、複数の分野で活動するフリーランサーとして生計を立てるようになった。香港で8年を過ごしたのち、自分のペースを見つめ直すために日本でのワーキングホリデーに応募することを決めた。彼の写真への熱意は収まることを知らず、移ろいゆく世界をシャッターで捉えることに没頭している。
Sherwin was born in Hong Kong and graduated with a Bachelor's degree of Arts in Media Practice from the University of Sussex in the UK. His works use photography and installation as the main media, with a habit of recording daily life with his cameras. His first solo exhibition 「Redscale」opened in Hong Kong in 2021, he has also participated in various joint exhibitions locally and abroad, which his works have been exhibited in Hong Kong, Japan, Britain and Pingyao, China.
With the fear of repetition and a standardized life, he coped with his livelihood as a slash freelancer working on concert photography and art direction. He decided to reform his pace after 8 years returning to Hong Kong by applying for working holiday in Japan. His addiction to photography never ceased that he devoted himself to capture this running world with the shutter.
